No One Can Beat UPA’s Record When It Comes to Corruption : Says Advani

The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government’s “stinking record” in corruption was unbeatable, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani said in New Delhi on Wednesday while listing the “10 murkiest matters that come to mind”.

Advani, who blamed Congress chief Sonia Gandhi along with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, also praised Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy in his latest blog.

“If a comprehensive history of corruption scandals in independent India were to be written, I have no doubt that both in respect of the number of these scams as well as in terms of their financial dimensions and/or their gravity, no earlier government can out beat the stinking record of the UPA Government,” he said.

“This Government is headed formally by Dr. Manmohan Singh, but by now there is no doubt in any one’s mind that this government is actually run by UPA Chairman Smt. Sonia Gandhi, and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh!” he added.

Advani also listed the “ten murkiest matters that come to mind”, starting with the cash-for-vote scandal of 2008.
Following in the list were the 2G scam, Commonwealth Games scandal, Quattrochchi case, Adarsh housing case, and appointment of Chief Vigilance Commissioner P.J. Thomas.

He also counted the government’s failure to get back black money in foreign banks and tax havens, the continuing massive illegal immigration from Bangladesh into Assam and other northeastern states, the Telgi stamp paper case and the case of Hasan Ali, alleged money launderer.
