Ramalinga Raju goes to jail; Satyam CFO is arrested

Satyam’s former chief executive officer (CEO) Ramalinga Raju, after being interrogated for 18 hours, was sent to judicial custody till January 23 along with his brother Rama Raju.
Raju brothers will spend the next two weeks at the high security Chanchalguda prison in Hyderabad. The magistrate at the court in Secunderabad turned down their bail petition, asking the doctor at the jail to check on Raju’s medical condition.
Raju’s counsel says his blood pressure is fluctuating abnormally. Doctors had examined Raju while in CID office, but counsel says he has not sought hospitalisation on medical grounds.
The Rajus had spent the night of Friday, first answering questions posed by the CID sleuths, and then waiting for the police to do the paperwork, demanding police custody.
Just as Ramalinga Raju, who had built a global brand for the last twenty years, was taken as an accused from the DGP office to the magistrate’s residence, almost at the same time, the CID team picked up his former colleague V Srinivas, chief financial officer at Satyam, who was arrested after.
