Finally, Satyam chief Raju produced before magistrate today
HYDERABAD: The disgraced Satyam chief, Ramalinga Raju, who was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh CID on Friday night, was produced before a
magistrate, after 18 hours of interrogation.
Raju has been produced before the 6th additional chief judicial
magistrate, Ramakrishna, of Nampally Courts. As the courts are closed on Saturday, he has been taken to Ramakrishna’s Maredpally residence in Secunderabad. Police are likely to seek further remand of Raju, sources said.
Since his arrest, Raju has been kept at the state police headquarters and a team of doctors has been close at hand. Raju is also said to have undergone some medical tests.
It is understood that Sebi is asking for access to Raju but police say that without a magisterial order access cannot be granted. DGP SSP Yadav along with CID chief A Sivararayana is scheduled to call on chief minister YSR Reddy to brief him on the progress of the case.
Meanwhile, Satyam employees are optimistic after reconstitution of the board and hope that order will be restored in the company.
Although a copy of the FIR filed by police is not yet available, sources said the FIR is against all people connected with the scam. People have not been named in the FIR, but sources said it could include the independent directors and the auditor, PricewaterhouseCooper.
In a related development, Nina Mangat, a Satyam shareholder and retired bank employee, who filed the original complaint with police, is said to have gone underground fearing trouble.
